Common materials to discuss
Timber, ordinary packaging, metal, garden cuttings and non-upholstered furniture may suit an agreed load. Confirm the waste mix first.
Heavy waste
Soil, bricks, concrete and paving need a suitable skip and an agreed weight limit. A bigger container is not permission to add unlimited heavy waste.
Separate checks
Plasterboard, mattresses, upholstered furniture and electrical appliances need specific arrangements. Mention them before booking.
Keep out of a general skip
Do not add asbestos or suspected asbestos, chemicals, paint, liquids, batteries, gas cylinders, fridges or tyres to an ordinary mixed load.
Load safely and keep the waste below the rim
Follow the loading rules agreed for the booking. Do not add boards to raise the sides, leave sharp pieces projecting or put extra rubbish beside the container. If you find an unexpected material, stop and ask before adding it.
Compare the size and weight guidance and plan the waste from your home project.
